Our Theatrical/Film/TV Makeup course is suitable for artists from intermediate to advanced level. We recommend students complete one of our beginner's courses, or the Introduction to Theatrical/Film/TV Makeup before completing this course. Students who have trained as a hairdresser and those who have previously trained in basic fashion make-up will find this perfect for extending their capabilities.

The contents of this course can also be tailored to focus on specific techniques and individual requirements.


This course includes:

  • Skin care – analysis, product selection, hygiene and preparation
  • Contouring – highlighting, shading and correction
  • Health and safety
  • Business procedures - discussion on handling and laying out invoices and business cards, and preparing portfolio and CV
  • Special occasion makeup – bridal or fashion makeup
  • Straight corrective makeup - male and female
  • Casualty and trauma effects – choice of bruising, cuts, grazes, scars, burns, or death
  • Ageing with makeup – highlighting, shading and old age stipple
  • Ageing with latex
  • Geisha and oriental makeup looks
  • Brow blocking – for fashion, period makeup, clowns, geisha, old age, or character makeup looks
  • Airbrushing – demonstration of makeup and tattoo stencils
  • Ready-made bald caps – application and colouring
  • Period makeup and hair
  • Special projects - including clowns, animals and drag
  • Hairdressing - heated rollers, hot tongs and roller wet setting
  • Hair lace wigs - preparation, care and application
  • Introduction to prosthetics
  • Postiches - selection, preparation, colouring, application and care
  • Laying on hair - using hair to create temporary effects such as beards, eyebrows or other areas of the body
  • LMS certificate awarded on completion of the course
