Want to work in the Theatre, Film or TV industry? This course is the perfect introduction into the core, fundamental techniques required to progress onto the Full Theatrical Makeup Course.

// Who is this course for?

The Introduction to Theatrical/Special Effects/Media Hair and Makeup course is an intermediate course designed as a taster into Theatrical makeup for students to then enrol onto the Full Theatrical Makeup Course. We suggest students complete our 1 Day Makeup Taster Course or our 3 Day Beginners Makeup course before enrolling onto this course or have previous  from another Training Academy or be a makeup artist currently in order to achieve their full potential in this creative course.

// What will I learn during this course?

This course includes:

  • Products and kit advice
  • Health and safety
  • Hygiene
  • Basic anatomy of the head and shoulders – bone structure and skin analysis
  • Colour theory and the colour wheel
  • Highlighting and contouring
  • Basic TV makeup
  • Blocking out eyebrows
  • Ageing with greasepaints
  • Bruising and cuts
  • LMS certificate awarded on completion of the course.

Students are welcome to bring in a camera to take photos during this course.

// What can I do with this course?

After this course, students will be able to complete basic special effects and media makeup looks on clients with their London Makeup School certificate.

// What courses can I progress onto?

Students can then progress onto the Full Theatrical Makeup Course course which completes learning to an advanced and creative level. Students also have the option to instead specialise in Special Effects Makeup, or Media Hair and Makeup.
